This episode is something that has been weighing on my heart over the last couple weeks. There are times in our life where we are getting in the way more then we are helping. We need to be careful not to do this with God’s work! When God is trying to work sometimes, we stop Him, we get in His way. We need to let God work!
Let God be in Charge
Rom 11:34 For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor?
Who are we to say what God can do? Who are we to say God can’t do this or that? Who are we to think we can fully understand the mind of God? Who are we to think we can reason with God or tell Him and others what God should do?
Sometime we get in the way of God and stop Him from being in charge because we get to thinking and we use our thoughts and even worse our feelings to say what God is going to do.
We need to just get out of the way and let God lead.
God will lead, God wants to lead. We have to get out of the way for that to happen.
God cannot lead if we are in the way and we are out front trying to lead. God wont force us to get behind Him. If we get in the way then God can’t lead.
We need to let God be in charge. We need to let God make the decisions. We need to let God blaze the trail. We need to let God be in charge.
Let ourselves be in subjection to God
Rom 13:1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
God is the higher or highest power and we need to make sure we are subject to God.
1 Pet 3:22 Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.
Even the angles are subject to Christ.
1 Cor 15:28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.
Even Jesus Christ was subject to God.
We need to let God be in charge and we need to be subject unto Him. What ever it is that God chooses to do, no matter what God’s plan is we need to let Him be in charge and we need to willingly be subject to Him.
Let God Bless
Reference Mark 6:30-44
This passage tells us about how Jesus fed 5,000 men with 5 loaves and two fish. Jesus preformed a miracle there that day. He made something happen that even His own disciples did not think would happen.
The passage say there were about 5,000 men there and in Mark 6:42 And they did all eat, and were filled. That is an amazing thing to see and be a part of!
The problem is… Jesus had the power to feed the 5,000 because that is who was there but Jesus also had the power to feed 10,000 or 10 Million but He couldn’t because they were not there.
IF 10,000 people would have been there they would have seen a bigger miracle. The fact is that some people did not go that day and those people missed out on seeing the Power of God that Day, they missed out on seeing a miracle and they missed out on being blessed by God.
This work that Christ did could have gone as far as men allowed it. The ones that did not show up hindered this work from going farther and they missed out on a blessing.
Reference 1 Kings 17
In this chapter the prophet Elijah tells king Ahab that there is going to be a drought for 3 years.
After Elijah does this God tells him in 1 Kings 17:3 Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.
So, Elijah is told to move to a new location and God tells Him where to go.
And God blessed Him for being obedient to the plan. 1 Kings 17:6 And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook.
God tells him to leave and go somewhere new and God blesses him greatly for going to where he was told to go.
So, does God leave him there forever to continue living in the blessing of that place? NO. God moves him again.
That doesn’t make any sense, does it? We can’t understand this? God has Elijah in a great place, God is really blessing him there in that place and now God tells him to leave.
In our eyes it would look like Elijah is abandoning God’s plan and God’s blessing.
It will also look like maybe Elijah is not grateful for the blessings he was receiving at the Brook Cherith.
If Elijah was our neighbor or our friend, we would probably be thinking these things BUT we would be wrong!
The truth is… if Elijah would have stayed where he was where God was previously blessing him, if he would have stayed, he would have left the will of God. He would have walked out of God’s plan and he would have missed being used by God and he would have missed being blessed by God.
In 1 Kings 17:9 God tells Elijah, Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there:
God moves Elijah because He planned to use him somewhere else for something great.
The place he goes to he is used greatly by God. He brings the child back to life and because he was there and obedient to God the widow and her child believe in God.
IF Elijah would have stayed where he was before these two would not have gotten to see God work. They would have maybe never known God. They also would have starved to death during this drought. This all would have happened if Elijah stayed.
Sometimes we let our own mind get in the way. We start to try to figure things out on our own and we tend to forget to put God into the picture.
It makes no sense why Elijah would leave somewhere that he was being blessed by God unless you think of the fact that… it was God’s plan for him to leave and at that specific time.
Isa 55:8-9 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Sometimes we don’t understand God’s plan. Some times He reveals it to use along the way, some times after the fact and sometimes never. This doesn’t make a difference, we need to follow God’s will and God’s plan even when we don’t understand it.
Do you think Abraham fully understood the plan when God told him to leave the land of his family but did not tell him where he was going? Probably not, but Abraham obeyed.
We need to obey God and follow His plan in faith even if we don’t fully understand.
We need to let God be in charge, we need to be in subjection to God, we need let God bless and we need to let God Work.
