Today we are going to focus on the fact that if you are a child of God then WE are family!

Sometimes I feel like we don’t act like it. Sometimes I feel like the family of God, that is us Christian’s act like we are a dysfunctional family or even enemies at time.

Sometimes we forget that we all have the same Father in heaven. Sometimes we love our own church that we attend so much that we end up treating all other churches like enemies. Unfortunately, this is true, I have seen it.

My goal here today is to help us all remember that we are in the same family.

All believers in Jesus Christ are in this family! If you have accepted Jesus as your personal Saviour then you are my brother or sister. We are a family!

We are adopted into God’s family

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 

Romans 8:15a For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption,

Adoption – 2 root words, Huios – a son, Thesis – a placing, It literally means to place a son.

Paul uses this word to show that we, by accepting Salvation, we have been given the place and condition of a son even though it doesn’t naturally belong to us.

God adopted us! He always wanted to adopt us. God already had the paperwork ready for our adoption. He was waiting for us to accept the adoption, that is, Salvation. God chose us! Is that amazing that God choose you!!! We are now God’s family!

God is our Father!!!

Romans 8:15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. 

God is referenced as the Father 100’s of times in the Bible. And that is because He is OUR Father! God chose to be our Father!

Christians are your Brothers and Sisters

Hebrews 2:11 For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren, 

Matt 23:8b for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren. 

1. We need to treat and love each other like Brothers and Sisters.
2. We need to build each other up! 1 Thes 5:11 Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another,
3. Edify – To promote the spiritual Growth of believers that is your Brothers and Sisters by teaching, and by example!
4. We should focus on this more!
5. Do our conversations promote spiritual growth in others?
6. Do our lives promote spiritual growth in others?

We are a Family

Eph 3:15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 

1. We are a family; we need to make sure we act like it.
2. We should show each other that we care for each other.
3. We should encourage each other to continue to serve the Lord.
4. We should encourage each other to do more for Christ.
5. We should encourage each other each time someone takes a step for Christ.
6. We should encourage each other to stay faithful, to coming to church services, to serving the Lord, to personal devotions.
7. We need to start talking about the Bible more in our daily conversations. We should be telling each other what we read in the Bible this week.
8. We are a family and we should build each other up!

We need to make sure that we remember that we are not just friends, we are family, we are Brothers and Sisters.

All you have to do is pray to God and tell Him that you know that because of your sin you cannot be with Him in heaven and that you believe that all Jesus did on earth was to save your soul, then simply ask Jesus to save your soul.

That’s it! You are now part of the family!

Let’s continue working to help this family grow by spreading the gospel AND Let’s remember to promote the individual spiritual growth of each other as well!
